Holiday Closure
Bedford closes over the festive season - employees and staff are away from 22 Dec, with most departments returning 6 Jan, Day Options back on 7 Jan, and Packaging, Cleaning, and Hospitality returning on 13 Jan 2024. Balyana and Experiences continue as normal.

Day Options provides programs based on your needs, interests and personal goals.

We offer a range of programs to suit the needs of individuals and small groups with a variety of support needs. All programs begin at the local Bedford hub before the activity begins.

Learn new skills, meet new people, and experience what your local community has to offer. Participate in the arts by joining our music and dance programs, try your hand at cooking or gardening, be active with swimming and bush walking or enjoy social outings with your friends.

We also have really rewarding partnerships and programs with other not-for profit and volunteer organisations - such as RSPCA and CircoBats.

If your NDIS plan includes Core funding for social and community participation, you can access Bedford's Day Options programs. If you do not have NDIS funding in this area but would like to join in, you can do so by self-funding your supports & services.

Day Options FAQs

What are Day Options?

Bedford’s Day Options service is a fun and educational program for adults living with a disability that allows people to take part in a range of inclusive activities with like-minded people. We have a community engagement and skill development focus for all our programs.

Where can I participate in day options?

Bedford runs Day Options programs at metro locations in Panorama and Torrensville. In regional South Australia we offer Day Options in Port Lincoln, Port Pirie, Wallaroo, Whyalla and Mount Gambier. Each location has activities unique to their region, with programs developed that reflect the local community.

How much does it cost? Is it funded through my NDIS plan?

If your NDIS plan includes Core funding for social and community participation, you can access Bedford’s Day Options service. If you do not have NDIS funding in this area but would like to join in, you can do so by self-funding your supports and services.

For certain activities, there may be a small additional cost, for example to help fund art supplies or groceries for cooking. This will vary with the 12 week program pending on the programs offered.

What is the ratio of Disability Support Workers to clients?

Most of our sites are 1:3 ratio, Mt Gambier and Torrensville are a 1:4 model and the Social Saturdays programs are a 1:5 model. We also support clients through our Day Options and Experiences programs at a 1:1 model if required.

What does a typical day look like?

Each of our centres runs a 6 month program with a wide range of activities such as cooking, art, sewing, sports, gardening, community access, skill development and karaoke! The client has choice and control over the program they select for the 6 months.

How many clients attend the sessions?

Each site is very different to their capacity and each day can also vary. The size of the group is often no more than 6-12 clients per day.

What days & times does the program run?

Day Options are run Monday to Friday in 6 month blocks with times varying between locations. Each site's program times vary slightly. Check your preferred location for the correct operating hours.

Do I need to book for the entire 6 months?

For Day Options, yes you will need to book for the entire 6 month block as the client will be allocated to a ratio of supports and then own that spot for the period.

What age groups does Day Options cater for?

Bedford’s Day Options are designed for adults over 18 years.

What benefits does the service provide?

Attending sessions allow participants to learn new skills, meet new people and have fun, rewarding experiences. It is also a great way to achieve independence though development of life skills such as cooking or gardening, and learning about computers.

Some of our programs also incorporate rewarding partnerships with other not-for-profits and volunteer organisations such as RSPCA and Meals on Wheels to give back to the local community.
