NDS understands that about 6,000 people eligible for the scheme in SA will be affected. Their eligibility will be decided, but their plans will be delayed.
This decision was taken after the South Australian Government and the NDIA agreed that extending the timeline would improve the quality of participants' plans, and ensure as many people as possible had the ability to meet with a planner or LAC face-to-face.
People transitioning from State and Commonwealth programs will still have their access to the NDIS determined by the end of June 2018. Over the following six months, their plans will be finalised. Current funding arrangements for these people will remain unchanged until their plans are finalised and approved.
At 31 December 2017, more than 15,000 participants had approved plans in South Australia.
