Our upgraded Mount Gambier manufacturing site was unveiled on 19 January, following a $1.05m upgrade - $527,000 of which was awarded as part of the National Stronger Regions Fund program. Federal Member for Barker Tony Pasin officially opened the site upgrade, which included the installation of a new timber moulder, timber shedding and flooring for extra storage, and a fire protection and power upgrade.
An additional 18 full-time equivalent jobs for people with disability and three full-time equivalent support staff positions have been created as a result of the upgrade and timber processing output will improve by more than 30 per cent.
Bedford Chairman Ray Grigg said we're proud to play a vital role in the provision of meaningful and relevant vocational skills in the South-East through the employment of 120 people with disability.
"This is a truly remarkable story, especially in an era of declining manufacturing, and we are very grateful and excited to see this upgrade secure our future, and more importantly, the employment of the people we support."
