At Bedford Panorama, we have a lovely outdoor area, complete with some heavily producing orange trees affectionately known as ‘The Orange Grove’.
During the warmer months you can find staff and clients relaxing, taking in some sun, or doing some art in the fresh air… and last year it’s been getting a bit more TLC thanks to a beautification project collaboration between our Day Options clients and our friends at Bunnings.
Bunnings Reynella, Marion and Edwardstown stores very generously donated six garden beds, soil, hoses, trellis, vegetables, herbs, flowers, a bench and six colourful murals to brighten up the outside eating area in The Grove! Bunnings staff Rob, Sally and Lisa joined with excited clients and staff from Day Options to help bring the vision to life.
Bunnings started hosting a series of dedicated workshops in 2022 for our Day Options clients to experience working with their hands and learning new skills. So far, they’ve learned how to use different tools, make tool-boxes, frog houses and even had a Lego construction day! These skills came in very handy during the Orange Grove beautification project and our Day Options clients continued to enjoy the workshops at Bunnings into 2023.
We love watching the gardens grow in our beautiful new space, and harvesting fresh herbs and vegetables for our cooking groups. While the murals have yet to be installed (the artistic collaboration has been ongoing), the Grove has received a number of new upgrades more recently, including the removal of some ageing hedges, new paving, a basketball court, and a new shade sail and more benches. It's really taking shape!
