Holiday Closure
Bedford closes over the festive season - employees and staff are away from 22 Dec, with most departments returning 6 Jan, Day Options back on 7 Jan, and Packaging, Cleaning, and Hospitality returning on 13 Jan 2024. Balyana and Experiences continue as normal.

Bedford's budding artists once again created amazing works to display during this year's SALA Festival.

Clients from Port Lincoln to Panorama used paints, pencils and paper mache to create beautiful pieces under Bedford’s 2021 festival theme, ‘Freedom of Expression’.

To celebrate the collection, Bedford held a special exhibition night on Friday, 20 August at Ten22 Boutique Venue in Edwardstown. Pieces were auctioned with all proceeds going directly to the artists.

The event was a full celebration of Bedford clients’ artistic talents, with choir Bedford Beats, Bedford dancers, and acclaimed Adelaide Fringe performer and client Kym MacKenzie providing entertainment on the night.

Bedford Chief Executive Maggie Dowling said the body of work gives a fascinating insight into the world of Bedford’s clients - some of whom are non-verbal and have complex needs.

“There is absolutely no end to the wonderful imaginations behind each piece,” she said.

“Apart from the pure joy that can come from making a piece of art, being creative may also help people lean, improve social skills and communication, and build confidence.

“It’s exciting that the benefits to our clients and the opportunities it may unlock for their future reflect Bedford’s ongoing commitment to put the needs of all of our clients first and at the centre of everything we do.”

A handful of pieces are still available for purchase on Bedford’s online gallery – take a look here!
